One month ago, we arranged our very own Shark Tank. Our internal pitching competition started in November last year with 20 ideas, competing for the prize to be included in Nordnet’s product roadmap. After qualifying heats and semi-finals, three pitches were presented live on our 5X Summit by our well-prepared and smart employees Johan Andén, Lisa Åkerman and Dan Danes. It has been a tough call during the process, but jury and the audience voted Lisa in the end. Meet Lisa Åkerman, who normally works at Fund Operations at Nordnet when she is not pitching great product ideas.

Congratulations Lisa, how does it feel to be the winner of Nordnet’s first Shark Tank?
Thank you, it feels fantastic! I’m very thankful for this opportunity. It was a great experience to pitch my idea in front the whole company, and rewarding to receive immediate feedback from the jury. I have learned a lot during this process, and it has been fun to be able to contribute to Nordnet’s product development.

What’s your best advice for creating a great pitch?
I think it’s important to stress that it’s not about trying to come up with an idea. It’s rather about realising an idea you already have – something that got stuck in your mind when you saw the need for something and a solution for it. And don’t be too hard on yourself and assume it’s not good enough. Just focus on explaining the thoughts behind your idea. Hopefully, everyone will see the same need you did and believe in your solution.

Tell us a little about your journey at Nordnet
I have been working at Nordnet for over 2 years now. I started as a savings expert at our customer service. After a little bit more than a year, I got the opportunity to transfer to my current position in the order team at Fund Operations. Our job is to make sure the order flow works as smoothly as possible. We’re constantly in a process of trying to streamline the order flow for our customers’ benefit, by trying to get the fund companies to switch to more automated order solutions.

How would you describe the culture at Nordnet?
The culture is very including and open-minded. You can always bring your ideas to the table, regardless of department, age or previous experience. I think it’s really exciting to work at Nordnet right now, we have a high speed in innovation and we are building a new Nordnet. Also, Nordnet is a workplace where you can grow further in your career and challenge yourself.
