Nordnet publishes annual and sustainability report for 2021

As of today, Friday 18 March 2022, Nordnet's Annual and Sustainability Report for 2021 is available via the Group's website www.nordnetab.com.

– 2021 was a year of amazing growth for Nordnet. Income for the full year totaled SEK 3.63 billion, and expenses ended up at SEK 1.14 billion. Overall, we made a profit before tax of SEK 2.45 billion for 2021 – our best full-year result to date and more than 50 percent higher than in 2020. Customer growth, number of trades, net savings, savings capital and lending are at new record levels. A big thank you to all customers and employees who have taken Nordnet to new heights, says Lars-Åke Norling, CEO of Nordnet.

Highlights during the year

  • Best full-year result to date, profit before tax of SEK 2.45 billion.
  • SEK 83 billion in net savings and 71.6 million transactions, the highest figures to date.
  • Launch of the new EPK personal pension account in Norway, with the possibility to collect your occupational pension savings in one single account.
  • Launch of the first technology index fund in the Nordic region – Nordnet Index Fund Technology.
  • Application submitted to the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority to start a fund company.
  • Successful launch of Danish equity savings account, 16 percent market share in just over a month.
  • Several new features launched in web and app, including dark mode and improved graph functionality.

Financial results in brief, January-December 2021

  • Operating income increased by 35 percent, amounting to SEK 3,628.4 million (2,678,7).
  • Adjusted operating profit increased by 56 percent to SEK 2,451.2 million (1,575.9).
  • Savings capital amounted to SEK 802 billion (565) as of 31 December 2021.
  • The customer base increased with 31 percent to 1,601,000 (1,221,500) customers.
  • Net savings amounted to SEK 83.4 billion (82.1).

Sustainability results in brief, January-December 2021

  • Nordnet’s greenhouse gas emissions amounted to 122 tons, a reduction of 20 per cent compared to 2020. Nordnet’s operations are climate-positive, and 110% of emissions are offset.
  • 57% of fund capital is invested in sustainable funds (Article 8 or 9 according to SFDR) and 71% of fund clients hold sustainable funds in their portfolios.
  • Nordnet is the first platform in the Nordic region to include information on the EU’s new sustainability categories for funds, Article 8 and 9.
  • ESG classification of Nordnet’s four international index funds.
  • 36.5 percent of new customers in 2021 are women, compared to 31 percent in the customer base.
  • The gender distribution among Nordnet’s employees remains unchanged at 36 percent women and 64 percent men. The proportion of women in new recruitments has increased by three percentage points to just over 40 per cent.
